Cotton and Cotton Blend Christening Gowns

Cotton is a natural fiber. It is cool, soft, and comfortable. Cotton "breathes", so it is a favorite in hot weather.

Since 100% cotton tends to wrinkle, polyester is sometimes added to give it wash and wear properties. Some customers feel that the addition of polyester takes away from the breathability. Chlorine bleach can be used to restore white cotton garments to a clear white but it is best to avoid chlorine bleach if you plan on storing the cotton.

• Batiste cotton is a plain weave light-weight. It has the look of an old fashioned type of fabric. It wrinkles easily but that's what give it it's "old fashioned" appearance.
• Broadcloth is a heavier type of cotton. It can be either 100% cotton or poly/cotton blend.
• Gauze is a sheer, lightly woven fabric. Very popular in the hot weather.
• Cotton Knit or sweater knit is a cotton that has been knit rather than woven. Generally heavier than woven cotton and more suitable for cold weather climates.
• Interlock Knit is also a knit fabric. Not as heavy as sweater knit. Very soft. Very easy to care for. Wash and wear. Very little ironing. Generally has a more relaxed look to it so it is suitable for both Christenings and After Christenings.
